Please bring this with you as it will need to be presented/sighted on landing.
On the Registration form, disclosure of your insurer and amount of Public Liability can be made.
Agenda from Tuesday 13th May 2025.

Wednesday 14th May – Free day cruise of the Gold Coast Canals for RVAA Members.
Friday 16th May – Friday night welcome BBQ at the Southport Airport.
Saturday 17th May – Afternoon AGM at the Southport Airfield.
Saturday 17th May – Sponsored Dinner at the Southport Airfield.
Sunday 18th May – Depart for home or the post-AGM tour.
Accommodation:
Attending members will be responsible for securing and paying for their own accommodation, or can arrange to stay with local friends etc.
There are many accommodation choices along our minibus route, ranging from cabins in van parks to hotels, motels, apartments and AirBnB’s.
Members might also opt to travel further afield to say, Main Beach or Surfers Paradise, but these choices will require Uber or Tram connections. The nearest tram station to the airfield is a 10-minute drive away at Gold Coast University Hospital, however this then connects to many stops southwards down along the coast strip, at just 50c a trip!
Some accommodation choices along our minibus route include:
Runaway Bay Motor Inn
Treasure Island Holiday Resort (cabins)
Grand Hotel
Jadran Motel
Limassol Motel
Blue Waters Apartments
Broadwater Tourist Park (cabins)
There are many other choices, at various price points and ratings. Please conduct your own search using Trip Advisor / Bookings.com / Agoda etc. Booking early is suggested, just choose something that allows you to cancel a few weeks out at no cost, in case your circumstances change.
NB: The Club does NOT permit anyone to stay overnight on the airfield – underwing or tent camping is not available at YSPT, nor is there an option of sleeping in a hangar.
The airfield main access gate closes at 6 pm and opens at 6 am.
Transport:
RVAA intends to run two 12-seater minibuses as a shuttle service to member-chosen accommodation venues along a set route from the airfield; from the SFC clubhouse to the Broadwater Tourist Park at Loder’s Creek (a bit north of Southport town) and return. Refer to the minibus route.
If members arrive earlier, i.e. Wednesday or Thursday, and the numbers warrant it, a bus can be made available for fly-in attendees if they wish to self-organise their own sightseeing travels around the Gold Coast, driven by one of their group. The 12-seaters can be driven on a standard driver’s licence, but the nominated driver(s) will have to register with the Secretary a few days in advance for insurance purposes. Please email Tim Ellerton, our Secretary, if this is of interest.
Food/Itinerary:
Suggestion: EARLY ARRIVALS
Arrive Tuesday 13th May, tie down and settle into your accommodation. Take in the beaches or sights as you see fit.
Wednesday 14th May.
Enjoy a day cruise hosted by the RVAA President (free) inside the protected Gold Coast Broadwater (flat water), view the waterfront mansions of the rich, and lunch at the South Stradbroke Island resort pub with sand between your toes standing at the public bar, returning in the afternoon.
Thursday 15th May. Free day to do Theme Parks, Seaworld, Dreamworld and Universal Movies Studios. There’s the border Scenic Rim ranges, or Surfer’s shops and eateries, or explore the Gold Coast strip via the light rail (hop on hop off).
Friday 16th: We will hold a welcome barbecue at the airport clubhouse at sundown which will wind up at around 7:30 ~ 8:00 pm. The minibuses will then drop the attendees as required at lodgings along the minibus route (or at the nearest pub if desired). Ubers and Taxis are usually readily available on the Gold Coast.
Saturday 17th: attendees can arrange their own breakfasts, lunches and activities. The minibuses to and from the airport will run from 10 am, according to demand.
If you arrive before lunchtime there are only basic pies, sausage rolls and drinks available for purchase with the alternative of bringing something with you.
The AGM will start at the airport clubhouse at 4:00 pm, and run for about an hour, after which the dinner and awards will happen.
The clubhouse is licensed.
At the close of the dinner, the minibuses will run until all have been dropped at their lodgings.
The timing of an afternoon AGM leading into the dinner is to reduce the number of trips our members need to make on the day.
The cost of the dinner will be subsidised by RVAA – detail TBA closer to the fly-in.
Sunday 18th: We expect most attendees will depart in the morning. The minibuses will be running from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. Pilots wishing to stay longer at YSPT are welcome to but must arrange their own transport after 1:00 pm.
The post-RVAA AGM flying tour departs.
REGISTER as soon as possible to help the organisers plan the scale of the AGM.

POST 2025 AGM FLY-AWAY.
Details:
This is a 9-day tour (18th to 26th May)
For those interested in flying outback Queensland and visiting some of the icons in Australian Outback History (including overflying herds of Dugongs (Sea Cows), Jimbour House, St. George, Eulo, Thargomindah, The Dig Tree, Birdsville, Winton, Longreach, Charleville and Moree) time to commit is approaching.
Accommodation in the outback is extremely competitive, if we don’t book now (most have very reasonable refund policies should something happen) then this exact flyaway may not happen for you.
Members who have any queries about this tour can contact the tour leader, Alan Carlisle via email.
Details of the stops, distances, stopovers and fuel availability can be downloaded here.
An AvPlan Map of the stops can be downloaded here.
REGISTER for the RVAA Post-AGM fly-away.
